The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer

On a warm Friday afternoon in May, Madison and Jon met for a time of prayer before their wedding. They did not do a first look, as Madison wanted her future husband to see her for the first time as she glided down the aisle. Rather, this beautiful bride came up behind her groom to be, wrapped her arms around him, laid her head on his shoulders, and pulled him close. They both smiled.

The purpose of this secluded meeting was not to stand alone on the oldest bridge in Maryville, Tennessee, but to pray. Their desire was to lift up adoration and thanksgiving to God, the One who had brought them together, and blessed them. Their entire relationship had been bathed in prayer, not only by them, but their friends and family. The power of prayer is real. During this intimate time together, they sought guidance and direction from the Lord. A peace fell upon them, one that surpasses all understanding. Their nerves were calmed and tears of joy and excitement were shed. After a quick salutation, Madison retreated to her bridal suite. And when the coast was clear, Jon reunited himself with his groomsmen, for it was only moments later that he would meet his bride at the altar.
