Fyke Photography - Watson/Saylor Engagement

Symarah and Lucas went to the same school but never spoke to one another. However, she had always noticed him and thought he was cute. So, when he moved to Colorado she was able to follow him on social media (isn’t it crazy how we can be so far apart yet so close!). It because of Facebook and Instagram that they were able to keep in touch. One time while Lucas was back visiting, he apparently saw Symarah at Sonic and messaged her later that evening. He said that they should hang out, and although Symarah thought he was attractive, she thought he wasn’t really looking for a serious relationship, and jokingly said they should, not expecting it to actually happen. A few months later, on Cinco De Mayo, Lucas happened to message her again and ask what she was doing for the holiday. They began chatting after that and he asked me if she’d like to hang out sometime (he was moving back).Symarah thought about it and decided to take the plunge. They had their first date on May 11, 2016.

Fast forward a year and a half to November 11, 2017. I don’t want to tell all of the details (because she does it so much better than I ever could), but Symarah planned a surprise weekend date for she and Lucas just because. The plan was to take him to the mountains and a nice dinner in The Smoky Mountains. So the pulled out at 11:11 (Make a Wish!). The arrived at the Max Patch and settled down for a nice picnic with a view of the mountains. Everything was going according to plan when all of a sudden, Symarah finds herself standing in front of Lucas while he’s on a knee proposing! Lucas totally hijacked the date! I don’t think Symarah cared one bit 🙂

Saturday, January 20 was a beautiful day, in many ways. It was sunny, not terribly cold (it had been frigid the entire week leading up to the shoot. There was still ice on some of the trails), and there was no wind. However, that was not the only reason for it being a beautiful day. It was that afternoon that I met Symarah and Lucas. We had talked on Facebook multiple times since their engagement and they were ready for their engagement photos. After meeting at Starbucks, we headed over to the Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum. We arrived about an hour before sunset and had a blast. From playing with rocks to traipsing through the bamboo to dancing on a trail at sunset, we had a wonderful time getting to know each other!

July 14, 2018 will be a magical day in Knoxville as Symarah and Lucas tie the knot! For more details about Symarah and Lucas’ love story, check out their wedding website – https://www.zola.com/wedding/lucasandsymarah
